When you apply to us, we will assess your application using the information you have given us and place you into one of 4 Bands, depending on your housing need.  We will also tell you your effective date (the date you went into your band).

The information below sets out the bands and examples of the type of people who would be placed into them.

Band 1

  • People who are losing their home due to demolition or regeneration
  • People assessed as homeless
  • People at risk of domestic abuse
  • People leaving HM armed forces community

Band 2

  • Urgent Medical Need
  • People who are ready for independent living
  • Households with a child in need or care leaver
  • Adoptive/foster carers who need to move to a larger property
  • People living in unacceptable housing conditions
  • Tenants of the Tees Valley Lettings Partnership Landlord who are underoccupying their home by 2 or more bedrooms

Band 3

  • High medical needs
  • Overcrowding
  • Tenants of the Tees Valley Lettings Partnership Landlord who are underoccupying their home by 1 bedroom
  • People who need to move on hardship grounds
  • People sharing facilities

Band 4

  • Low housing need
